Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about our nursery, plants, and practices.
When is the best time to plant in Big Pine?
The Owens Valley growing season typically runs from late April through October. Cool-season crops (lettuce, peas, brassicas) can be started earlier in spring and again in late summer. Warm-season crops (tomatoes, peppers, squash) should wait until after the last frost, usually mid-May.
Do you use organic practices?
Yes! We embrace natural and organic gardening practices. We avoid synthetic pesticides and fertilizers, instead relying on compost, beneficial insects, companion planting, and other sustainable methods.
Can I visit the nursery?
We welcome visitors! Please contact us to schedule a visit. We are also regularly at local farmers markets and community events.
Do you ship plants?
Currently we only sell locally — at our nursery, at farmers markets, and through local pickup. Plants are fragile and we want to ensure they arrive in perfect condition.
What if my plants don't survive?
We stand behind the quality of our plants. If you have issues within the first two weeks, reach out and we'll work with you to make it right.
Do you offer garden consulting?
Yes! We offer both full garden consultations and a-la-carte consulting sessions. Check our Services page for details.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept cash, Venmo, and Zelle at this time.
